- Trans-Expressionism -
I began my career in art as an Abstract Impressionist painter. My impressions of nature, usually landscapes, became abstract forms on the canvas. Years later, through my inner journeys to my Self, I became an Abstract Expressionist painter. My abstract forms became an expression of my inner Self’s experiences. What I call an expression of my inner Self, others have described as intuition, or insight, or an expression of the sub-conscious, but I believe it is more. I have come to know this inner me as my Higher Self, and that understanding has brought an evolution to my art. In recent years I realize that I have become what I call a Trans-Expressionist artist. In my meditation, or in the state I enter when I paint, the ego dissolves. Only my Higher Self remains. My Higher Self lives totally in the moment. Unlike the ego, it does not filter or interpret information. My Higher Self communicates a message that describes the ongoing process of my transformation as an artist, in the moment, from now to now as the brush moves across the canvas. This is the transformative expression.
